If your organization uses a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, with the right software Asterisk can perform a screen pop. A screen pop occurs when you receive an inbound call and Asterisk automatically opens your CRM to display the customers details based on the Caller ID.
Asterisk also allows for custom integration. Do you take credit card payments over the phone? Then you can have Asterisk talk to your customers and take the payment for you. Once the payment has been made Asterisk can directly update your debtors system to reflect the payment.
